Frequently Asked Questions

  • The best way to reach me to schedule an intake appointment is by clicking the contact us button below or sending an email to ashton@navigatingseasonstherapy.com. Because I am usually in sessions during the day, email is the preferred communication. I am happy to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call, however.

For clients 17y.o. and younger (or 18y.o. and still in high school), I do require a parent or guardian to be present during the intake. I will spend the first 10-25 minutes with the parent and then the rest with the child or teen. My goal is to get all the background information from the parent, so I can solely work on making the child or teen feel comfortable with the office and therapy. I do not ask my minor clients why they came to therapy on the intake- that is the question they are fearing the most. Rapport first, processing second!

  • Sessions vary between 45-50 minutes long. Sometimes they can run shorter and sometimes they can run longer.

For parents or caregivers bringing their child, you have the option to wait in the lobby, car, or drop them off. Please note that you must be back at least 5 minutes before the session ends to ensure you are in the lobby when your child finishes.

Teens are welcome to drive themselves with their parent’s approval.

  • Yes! In order to avoid the holding fee of $100, all session cancellations must occur 24 hours before the appointment start time. Clients who have Monday sessions must cancel by 5pm the previous Friday to avoid the fee.

Clients that attend sessions after 15 minutes of their scheduled appointment, without proper notification to their therapist, will be considered a no show and incur the $100 fee.

  • I offer both in person and virtual sessions. The price of the intake initial visit is $160. For sessions going forward, the price is $135. Parent meetings are also $135. All sessions listed are 50-minutes in length.

For a limited time, I am offering sliding scale sessions. Please contact me directly regarding those prices.

  • I have submitted my applications for BCBS, Aetna, UHC/UMR, Cigna, and Baylor Scott & White and waiting to be credentialed by them.

In the meantime, I can provide a superbill that can go towards your out-of-network deductible if applicable. Please contact your insurance directly to see if that is an option.

  • I specialize in seeing boys and girls ages 10-25. This is when seasons of life change the most and need a therapist that can translate tween and adult talk. If outside of this age range, feel free to reach out to me and see if it still might be a good fit!

  • Yes!! Clients with behavior and/or anger issues are my favorite type of clients to work with. I was recently told by a new family that they heard about me from word-of-mouth as the “angry teen boy guru”.

While clients with behavior and/or anger problems do on average stay in therapy longer, they end up loving it because for once, they are seen as the amazing person they really are and not what they present to be.

  • Nope! My goal is to make therapy an enjoyable experience. There is no laying on the couch talking about your feelings while the therapist is writing on a clipboard. In fact, the number one thing kids and teens say is that this was way better than the bleak movie version they had in their heads.

Instead, the office has different activities and activity rooms. There is pool/ping pong/ air hockey table, slime lab, art, punching bag, and so much more.

I do offer traditional talk therapy in a calm environment in office and telehealth as well if that is more your speed.

The client dictates how they want the session to go!

  • In cases of divorce or separation, I do require contact information to attempt consent from both parents/ legal guardians. Therapy is done best when both parents are present and feel included.

I legally also must have the newest and signed full copy of the divorce decree and/or custody arrangement to further determine consents.

Note: It is up to the parents, not therapist, to arrange scheduling during their assigned days and splitting payment if applicable.

  • A new law that started in 2025 mandates therapists must have this on their website. It is your right as a client if having a grievance to speak to me directly or contact the following links below.
